The Elementary Teachers’ Federation of Ontario (ETFO) has announced that, in addition to the  Phase 1 Work-to-Rule Strike Protocol  currently in place, its members will begin Phase 2 of its job action on Tuesday, December 10, 2019.
Some examples of the Phase 2 protocol include: ?    Not planning any new field trips scheduled to occur before June 30, 2020 ?    Not collecting money for school-based activities...

The Board is fully committed to French Immersion and recognizes its value within our school communities. The Board of Trustees approved a recommendation from Administration to consolidate French Immersion to a single Grade 1 entry point, which concludes Phase I of the French Immersion program review.

Middlesex County Trustee Arlene Morell has been re-elected Chair of the Thames Valley District School Board, while Elgin County Trustee Meagan Ruddock has been elected Vice-Chair.  
Chair Morell was recently re-elected to her second term on the Board, as one of two Trustees representing the County of Middlesex. She has over 15 years of experience serving education in numerous leadership capacities locally, at the district school level and at the provincial level.

Tuesday, Nov. 26, 2019 – Important changes have been introduced to Elementary French Immersion programming aimed at strengthening the Board’s ability to deliver consistent, high-quality French Immersion education that is equitable for all students across Thames Valley.
Beginning September 2020, entry into Elementary French Immersion will be consolidated to  Grade 1 – eliminating entry in Senior Kindergarten and Grade 7.

Tuesday, November 26, 2019 – New Sarum PS and Springfield PS will remain open after Thames Valley Trustees voted Tuesday to rescind motions previously approved by the Board in May 2017 to close the schools.   New Sarum and Springfield were among five schools Trustees originally decided to close after Administration conducted a significant Pupil Accommodation Review (EPAR-01) of 11 elementary schools in Elgin and Middlesex counties.
